World Health Day 2023: Foods You Should Eat to Stay Healthy
This year's theme is "Health for All." We are all aware that a healthy diet is essential for maintaining a healthy body and mind. It provides the nutrients, energy, and antioxidants required for proper functioning.
On World Health Day, consider the following food options to help you stay fit and healthy:
1. Vegetables and fruits: A variety of fruits and vegetables should be included in your diet to maintain good health. Include fruits like blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, oranges, apples, and grapefruits, as well as leafy greens like kale and spinach that are high in vitamins and minerals.
2. Wholesome grains: Whole wheat, oats, and brown rice are high in fibre and important nutrients like vitamin B and iron. Choose whole grains over refined grains for better health.
3. Protein that is lean: Try including fish, poultry, beans, lentils, and tofu in your diet as protein sources that do not contain the added saturated fat found in red meat.
4. Seeds and nuts: Almonds, walnuts, chia seeds, flaxseeds, and pumpkin seeds are among the healthiest nuts and seeds. All of these are high in healthy fats, protein, fibre, and essential nutrients like vitamin E, magnesium, and selenium.
5. Dairy products with low fat: Including skim milk, low-fat yoghurt, and reduced-fat cheese in your diet will help you keep your bones healthy. These are high in calcium and vitamin D.
